With the approach of the solar eclipse for our area on April 8, we have been considering the best course of action for our district. After weighing all of the options and with considerable consultation with the other Spartanburg County School Districts, we have decided that April 8 will be scheduled as an e-Learning day.
Since the eclipse is scheduled to take place through our dismissal times when our students are transitioning outside to buses and cars in large groups, it creates a challenging situation to prevent the potential for eye damage, particularly to our youngest students.
We will treat this e-Learning Day much like we do in the case of inclement weather. Your student’s teacher/school will be in contact with your regarding assignments and work to be done at home.
Additionally, only afterschool activities/sports/events that begin after 5PM will be allowed on April 8.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter and encourage you to contact your student’s school with any questions.
